South32 has posted strong first-half results with a 9% increase in EBITDA to $1.1 billion and a 16% rise in underlying earnings, despite announcing plans to place its Mozal Aluminium operation in Mozambique into care and maintenance from March 2026 due to electricity supply challenges.
